# Scanning Features

Nightfall offers many useful features beyond its detectors, including:

The ability to use [Context Rules](https://help.nightfall.ai/developer-api/key-concepts/scanning_features/context_rules) and [Exclusion Rules](https://help.nightfall.ai/developer-api/key-concepts/scanning_features/exclusion_rules) to narrow the scope of matches.

The ability to create [Redactions](https://help.nightfall.ai/developer-api/key-concepts/scanning_features/redaction) in a way that is highly configurable so that sensitive data is appropriately obfuscated.

The ability to create [Policies](https://docs.nightfall.ai/docs/using-policies)[ ](https://help.nightfall.ai/developer-api/key-concepts/scanning_features/send_alerts_using_policies)that determine how leaks of sensitive information should be mitigated (i.e. through alerts sent to email or Slack).
