Get started with installing and integrating Nightfall for Slack.
Nightfall for Slack is offered in two variants:
Nightfall Pro DLP for Slack
Nightfall DLP for Slack Enterprise
Learn the process of installing Nightfall DLP for Slack enterprise.
Note: Nightfall DLP for Slack Enterprise requires that the Slack Discovery API be enabled. See the Requirements for Nightfall DLP for Slack Enterprise page for more information and additional installation requirements.
To install Nightfall Enterprise for Slack,
Select Authorize to authorize the Discovery API access in to Slack environment. You must be an org owner to authorize Nightfall DLP for Slack Enterprise Grid.
Select the correct workspace associated with the Nightfall account.
Click Allow. Nightfall can access the Discovery API now.
Note: If the authorization fails, the Discovery API is not yet enabled in your Slack organization. Contact your Slack sales rep or write to to enable this.
Once you have granted access to the Discovery API, you will be directed back to the dashboard to install the Nightfall Enterprise bot.
Click 'Install' to grant our bot access to your Slack workspace.
Select the ‘Install’ option.
Click 'Install'. You will be directed to another 'Allow' page. Select the correct workspace associated with your Nightfall account and click Allow.
The workspace you select here will be the one in which Nightfall creates new private channels in which to send you DLP alerts and triage the quarantine. Once complete, Nightfall is installed in your Slack workspace.

To install Nightfall Pro DLP for Slack,
Click Add to Slack to install the Nightfall Slack bot.
Select the Slack workspace associated with your Nightfall account.
Click Allow. You will be directed to setup instructions. Complete these steps to start receiving alerts.
The Nightfall bot is automatically added to public channels within 24 hours. If you wish to disable this automated process, please contact support@nightfall.ai.
The Nightfall bot is also automatically added to public connect Slack channels for the Slack Business+ edition. You must manually add the bot to private connect Slack channels in Slack Business+ edition.
To invite the bot to private channels use the following command:
/invite @Nightfall Pro #[channel]
Note: This command must be executed by a member of the private channel or by a Workspace Owner using Slack’s Channel Management Tools. For more information on enabling Channel Management Tools, see this article.

Understand the requirements for Nightfall DLP for Slack Pro.
Ensure the following requirements are fulfilled before you get started.
A service account with permission to install apps in the appropriate workspace is required.
The Channel Management permission for “People who can create Private channels” must be set to “Everyone, plus Multi-Channel Guests (default)”. Failure to set this permission will result in a “Restricted Action” error. See this article for instructions on how to check and set this permission. Once you have completed the installation, you can revert the permission to its original setting.

Ensure the following requirements are fulfilled before you get started.
You must enable the Slack Discovery API before getting started with Nightfall. You can confirm or request this by writing to Slack at feedback@slack.com.
A service account with appropriate Slack permissions is required.
For Slack Enterprise Grid plans, an Org Owner is required and must be a member of at least one of the workspaces. Org Primary Owner is not required.
For Slack Enterprise Select plans, a Workspace Owner is required. Workspace Primary Owner is not required.

While not a requirement for installation, in order for Nightfall to scan edits in direct messages, Slack’s Retention Policy must be set to “Keep all messages, including revision history.” Please review this article for information on configuring this policy.
