The Nightfall DLP for browsers can be installed as an extension on individual devices. The supported list of browsers are as follows.
Google Chrome or any chromium based browser.
Mozilla Firefox
This device explains the installation procedure on the Google Chrome browser. The process remains the same for other chromium-based browsers.
To install Nightfall DLP extension on Google Chrome:
Navigate to the .
Search the term Nightfall in the search bar.
Select Nightfall DLP for ChatGPT.
Click Add to Chrome.
Click Add extension.
Once the installation is complete, you can view the Nightfall logo on the top right corner of your browser and a message to confirm the successful installation.
Click the Nightfall logo and select one of the login methods to log in to the encryption.
If you select Continue with Google, the Google login page is displayed. You must enter your organization Google account credentials to login. Once you login, the Google permission pop up window is displayed. Click Continue.
If you select Continue with Microsoft, the Microsoft login page is displayed. If you are already logged in to your organization's Microsoft account you will see a pop up window asking for permission.
If you select Continue with SSO, you must enter your organization email on which SSO is enabled.
Search Nightfall DLP for Browsers in the search bar.
Click Add to Firefox.
A confirmation window is displayed as follows.
(Optional) Select the Run in Private Windows check box to enable Nightfall DLP during private browsing (equivalent to incognito mode in Chrome browser) sessions.
Click Add. A pop-up window appears on the top-right corner confirming the successful installation.
Click OK.
Once you install the Nightfall DLP browser plugin, you can start using the GenAI apps. A typical example with ChatGPT is explained as follows.
Once you complete the login process, navigate to ChatGPT. Click Log in on your ChatGPT account or click Sign up to create a new account.
Once you log in to ChatGPT, you can see the Nightfall logo on the text box where you enter ChatGPT prompts. This confirms that Nightfall is protecting your sensitive data from being leaked on ChatGPT.

B2C Billing Use Case
Compose a polite email to a customer whose credit card number was declined. The customer's name is Tony Smith, and his Visa card number is 4716-3495-2472-4539. Please also verify if his card number is correct.
HR Use Case
Write a paragraph that I can use to verify the social security number for our new employee, Lisa Smith. I have 323-10-3335 as her SSN.
When your prompt contains sensitive data, Nightfall blocks the prompt and shows the following warning message.
You must click Submit Redacted Text to submit your prompt to ChatGPT with sensitive data redacted. Else, you can click Clear input to stop sending the prompt and create a new prompt.
In the GenAI apps, other than ChatGPT, the Nightfall logo is displayed at the bottom right corner of the screen as shown in the following image.
If you do not see this icon, ensure that the Nightfall DLP browser extension is installed and you have logged in to it with your organization email. If your prompt contains sensitive data, Nightfall blocks the message and displays the warning, as shown in case of ChatGPT above.
